Albir is a small Mediterranean town located just 6 km away from Benidorm. Most of Albir residents are citizens of Nordic countries. Beautiful nature, vast sand and gravel beaches and countless cosy detached houses contribute to the atmosphere of comfortable and placid life in a beach resort.
Albir is one of the most populous towns in the municipality of Alfaz del Pi (10,025 residents in 2013) and is located right on the shore. This charming town is famous for its beautiful beaches, low buildings and comfortable hotels.
Albir’s climate, hot and dry in summer and mild in winter, makes open-air festivals and celebrations possible throughout the year. Among others, Albir holds the famous Alfaz del Pi Film Festival, Jazz Festival and a wealth of concerts of international and Spanish artists.
The beachside promenade is the centre of all public life, and Albir’s “Walk of Fame” has Hollywood-style stars honouring the artists who have won Alfaz del Pi Film Festival.
The lighthouse (el Faro de L´Albir) is another point of interest. It was built in XVII as a watchtower in order to protect the town from the pirates. In 2011 the lighthouse was rehabilitated and since then has the status of cultural heritage site.
The beaches of Albir officially also belong to Alfaz del Pi.
Albir borders with Altea – a lovely town with narrow streets, white houses and a blue-doomed church on top of a hill. To the other side of Albir there’s a busy and joyful town of Benidorm (6 km away).
